Baptism

Be Baptized

After a Roman prison guard in Philippi believed on the Lord Jesus, he was “baptized at once” (Acts 16:33). Even though he could have lost his job or even his life, he and his family trusted Jesus and were baptized. Baptism is one of the first fruits of faith and is an outward picture that we are no longer guilty but washed clean, no longer dead in sin but alive in Jesus, and no longer identified with the world’s system, but are now members of God’s family. Baptism is a way of going public for Jesus. He publicly gave himself for us. We publicly identify with him and his Church in baptism.

At North Hills we baptize by immersion because we believe that it best reflects the meaning of “baptism” (to dip or plunge under water) and best pictures the message of baptism. We baptize “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19) to highlight the role of each member of the Trinity in accomplishing our salvation. We have been drawn into the life and love of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

If you would like to learn more about being baptized at North Hills, pick up a baptism booklet in the lobby at church and register for the next Baptism Class by clicking the links on the right of your screen. We would love to help you take your next step of faith.
