Children

Faith in God is for kids too! We’ve designed a safe, fun, and interactive environment where kids can learn about God on their level.

That Is Why

Part of our commitment to partner with parents in developing the next generation of disciples is through training the children of North Hills to be genuine, enthusiastic servants of Jesus Christ. The goal of North Hills Children’s Ministry is to address three important aspects of every child’s development:

HEAD | THEOLOGICAL FORMATION

We desire to help children have a clear biblical understanding and to be able to apply biblical truths to their lives.

HEART | SPIRITUAL FORMATION

We desire for children to grow in relational development with God and others.

HANDS | MINISTRY FORMATION

We desire for children of all ages to experience the joy and sacrifice of selfless service for the sake of the gospel.

SAFETY | SECURE CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT

When you arrive, visit the first-time check-in area in Building D. We’ll ask a few questions about potential allergies, age, and parent contact information. This information helps us serve you and your child well.

After that, you and your child will both get a sticker with matching codes. After the service, you’ll use your sticker to pick up your child.

If we need to contact you during the service, we will text you. Please keep your phone nearby and visible.

We operate under the guidelines of our Child Safety Policy, which was developed with the aim of valuing children and protecting them from anyone who would want to take advantage of them or hurt them. Our prayer is that these guidelines will provide clear protection for the children in our care and will serve well the many faithful volunteers who are motivated by the Lord to invest in young hearts. We also trust it will discourage and protect against anyone with ill intent.

We require every Children’s Ministry volunteer and staff member to go through a screening process.

Includes seven requirements, with the goal of helping us become familiar with the individuals desiring to serve with our children.

  • North Hills’ membership for six months (required for those 18 years and older)
  • Completion of our Child/Youth Worker Application
  • Receipt of two references (answering
    child-specific questions)
  • Reading and signing our Child Safety Policy
  • Completion of a background check
  • Personal interview with an appropriate ministry leader
  • Training – including both online training for general child safety information (required for those 18 years and older) and a North Hills-specific training on our specific policy and our heart related to this topic

SERVE IN CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

We are dedicated to teaching kids about Jesus on their level. Volunteers can serve in Little Steps (infants – preschool), Kidstuff ( K5 – 4th grade), or Treehouse ( 5th and 6th grade). Each week, many teams work together to provide a safe and fun environment for learning. There are opportunities for teaching, as well as for acting, leading worship, preparing snacks and games, and more. Our Child Check-in Team welcomes families and ensures every child is checked in to their age-appropriate classroom. Some roles require you to be there every Sunday during the school year, while some are 5-6 times during the school year.

*Membership is required to serve.
