I Timothy 4:16
Paul’s words to Timothy are our primary motivation for reviewing NHC’s Doctrinal Statement. It is part of our calling to “watch the teaching” in a persistent way. To this end, we are reviewing our Doctrinal Statement, not because we are shifting our beliefs, but for three primary reasons.
- Theological accuracy: we seek to biblically reflect what we believe and teach.
- Clarity: we desire that the statement be understandable in style and language for the average church member.
- Historicity: we seek to align our statement with Christian teaching through the centuries.
What's happening now
Over the last year a subcommittee of elders reviewed our current doctrinal statement. In monthly elder meetings the entire board is reviewing suggested revisions.
The elders request that all members read through our current doctrinal statement. This first step will allow all of us to review the upcoming revisions.
